Vincentian Marian Youth Association (VMY for short) of Southeast Missouri is a Catholic youth outreach program. However, their local association is part of a much larger community, called the International Vincentian Marian Youth Association, which is located in Madrid, Spain. VMY boasts of over 150,000 members in 80 countries throughout the world.
To learn more about Vincentian Marian Youth be sure to visit their website.
Vincentian Marian Youth believes that it is necessary for all Catholics to speak for those who have never been given the chance to speak for themselves and encourage our Government’s leaders to do the same. VMY advocates this cause by involving the youth.

Vincentian Marian Youth members took part in their 6th Mission trip, Operation Overhaul Kansas in Baxter Springs.
The organization had 92 people participate in the week long service projects that took place during June 20th thru June 26th. The focus this year was on our Mother Mary and the Magnificat where it says “My Soul Magnifies the Lord”… Teaching teens that through our Mother Mary we can grow closer to her Son.
Work that was accomplished during the week included painting, landscaping, removing and replacing roofing, building additions, dry walling, insulating, wheelchair ramp construction, mudding, taping and organizing.
There were 12 teams of six to seven people, with a kitchen crew and our organizers. There were over 20 different sites worked at throughout the week. The women stayed at the First Assembly of God and the men stayed at the Trinity Worship Center.
Activities during the week were, swimming, BBQ, canoeing, picnicking, and Native American ceremonial dances performed by six different tribes. Religious events consisted of Reconciliation, Adoration, Mass, Benediction and nightly speakers. Fr. Hank Groedeke stationed in Neosho, MO helped with all the religious activities.
The week ended with a community brunch held for the workers and those that were helped during the week. There were several organizations helped during the week; those included were Trinity Worship Center, Neutral Lands Cherokee, and Community/Senior Center, Lutheran Church as well as several individuals.
VMY is and outreach organization for youth groups and teens who want to help serve the poor, politically, spiritually and physically. The next Operation Overhaul will be June 5-11, 2011. For more information on other trips you may visit the website
This year’s fall mission for the Vincentian Marian youth took place in St. Louis city.
On October 30th through November 1st there were twenty-seven participants. The majority were from Ste. Genevieve and Perry Counties and from six different parishes.
We were blessed to have one Carmelite Sister and one Postulant, one Seminarian, and Father David Nations a Vocations Director in the Vincentian family as part of our formation and fun.
The theme this year was “Dead Zone-A Life Without God-Don’t Get Caught In It”.
Formation included Mass at midnight, adoration, confession and group discussion. For spiritual exercise we all were to look for Jesus or something that reminded us of His being during our service. It was amazing what you saw and how you saw God in everything. He is all around you when you make the effort to look.
We worked at the St. Vincent de Paul Society thrift stores in St. Louis, the new store in St. Charles and a local soup kitchen.
By the generosity and hospitality of the St Vincent de Paul society we were given lodging.
