Get to know the Vincentian Family!

St. Vincent de Paul

The charism of Vincent de Paul - service
of persons living in poverty in a spirit of simplicity and charity - has been "caught" and "shared" by Vincentians of every age and all over the world.

Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marillac understood the gospel message "Whatever you did for one of these least brethren of mine, you did for me." Together, in 17th century France, they created a wave of Church renewal and social organization that changed the lives of many people, both poor and rich. In the United States, Elizabeth Ann Seton was inspired by the charism of Vincent and Louise. Today, all those who call themselves “Vincentian” believe, just as Vincent, Louise and Elizabeth Ann did, that Christ is truly present among us, especially in the person of those who are poor.

In addition to the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, the Vincentian Family is made up of Vincentian Priests, Sisters of Charity, Ladies of Charity, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, young adult volunteer groups such as Vincentian Service Corps and Vincentian Outreach Young Adults, the Catholic youth outreach program Vincentian Marian Youth, Affiliates and more, as well as those who have no 'formal' connection but live their lives reaching out and meeting Christ in serving persons who are poor and marginalized. More than 1 million people throughout the world are part of the Vincentian Family!

Gregory Gay, CM share his impressions of the Vincentian Family  as it works, prays and celebrates in the 80 countries he has visited during his almost 6 years as Superior General. (Thanks to Monica Watson of famvin who synchronized the sound track of his presentation at Niagara University with the visuals of  the powerpoint presenation.)
